Participate in Development of ENPI KARLANDS Online Spatial Database

NYKANEN_Joe.jpg

KARLANDS is currently collecting geographic data for the online GIS database. Data from the Russian side is highly needed in addition to data on recreational nature use and tourism services.

A test version of the database is now open for the public. Please have a look and give us feedback! Read the instructions and follow the link.

Mr Jukka Nykänen is serious about the maps.

The database will have spatially explicit data on nature conservation, mining, energy, forestry, and tourism in the border areas of Ilomantsi, Lieksa and Kuhmo municipalities in Finland and Muezerskiy and Kostomukshskiy regions in Russia. The maps can be utilized for recreation, landscape management planning, risk management, and research on both sides of the border. The database will be public and easy-to-use.

To submit your own data, please contact KARLANDS' GIS specialist Jukka Nykänen: jukka.nykanen(at)gmail.com, mob. +358-(0)50-4120717.
